WSET 3-certified wino Melanie Wynne is a longtime travel writer, multi-media artist, and snark enthusiast who writes about wine while ultimately pursuing a career as a winemaker. With Straight Out the Bottle, she invites you to sit back with a full glass, laugh, learn, and enjoy wine as much as she does.
Melanie has so far explored wine routes in the USA and Canada, Australia, Italy, France, Spain, Croatia, Chile, Mexico and Portugal — and not only is her liver still functional, but she’s also learned a ton about history, geography, geology, farming, winemaking and food pairings along the way. (She’s also discovered that she can nap just about anywhere.)
A big fan of sustainable farming and winemaking practices, she’s increasingly fascinated by biodynamics, which had her at, “fill a ram’s horn with cow dung and acacia blossoms and bury it in the vineyard beneath a full moon.” She has a particular taste for pinot noir, chenin blanc, zinfandel, dry rieslings, Valpolicella Ripasso, cabernet franc, nebbiolo anything, saperavi, vermentino, carménère, albariño, shiraz, 20-year tawny Port, and that one Pauillac she had.
Straight Out The Bottle is illustrated with Melanie’s photos and artwork (polymer clay miniatures, drawings, etc.), and features her favorite wine experiences, wine people, and y’know — wines.
